Worked today at and in the loom. Preparations. To make a piece of art using the rag rug as a medium is a time consuming matter. I have been cutting rags into strips. I changed the weft from supplementary binding to... still looking into it. That meant re-tying the heddles and re-threading the warp. Listened to a murder mystery audio book along with it all. Loom is now ready for being beaten. Had a great day. In my own universe.

One of my passions is hiking and being in the outdoors. It can be a bit hard when the two great passions weaving + spinning and outdoor activities are usually situated in different space: inside and outside. That was the reason for beginning the mountain spinning in the 1990's in various mountains in Iceland. Bring the handicraft out in the open and the free mountains. Another person who has done the same is Hélène Magnússon. She takes people knitting in the outdoors in Iceland. I am still pondering spots for the outdoor spinning. Spinning outside the cottage Krókur, in Garðabær Iceland where I was fortunate enough to be granted a residency in 2009, was a thrill in spite of it being almost at sea level. It doesn't take hight, it takes atmosphere, the right one.
