I took two pieces from the series"Jeans and Tshirts" with me on this days skiing trip with Hélène Magnusson . The weather was windy but mild, more than 5°C and the snow was in a state of melting and the lakes and ponds are peeking through the snow and ice to the sky above. The clouds running across the sky were terrific in their beauty. Hélène had my father´s old skis with wax free grip and I had waxed grip and we both did well. Except when we did a bit of downhill and my skis slid fast as ever but my body went faster than the skis as soon as the snow was softer under foot. Takes a bit of balancing, but I didn't fall over.
WE sat in the shelter of a great cairn and had tea of course. That is what these skiing trips are all about: drinking tea. There were several golden plovers around on the green moss clad islands on the partly snow covered heath. They sang their serenades, what a thrill. We saw a few geese and a couple of common snipes so I am truly starting to believe that spring is here.
